Regulatory Overview
The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) has mandated certification requirements for Designated Directors and Principal Officers under the IFSCA (AML/CTF/KYC) Guidelines, 2022. Through Circular No. IFSCA-DAC/8/2024-AMLCFT dated November 17, 2025, IFSCA has made it mandatory for all Designated Directors and Principal Officers of regulated entities in IFSC to complete the NISM-IFSCA-01: Certification Course on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing in the IFSC.
Key Compliance Requirements:
- Course Launch Date: November 18, 2025
- Completion Timeline: Within 4 months from course launch or from date of appointment
- Ongoing Requirement: Certification must be maintained at all times while discharging AML/CFT responsibilities
- Applicability: Mandatory for Designated Directors and Principal Officers; encouraged for other employees
